My boyfriend has never had a weight problem.

My boyfriend’s ex-wife never has either.

She and I are the same height.  5’7″.  I was told the other day that when the ex would reach 135 pounds she felt fat.

……….

Bitch.

As supportive as my boyfriend has been, and believe me, he’s been very good, it still stung to hear that.  Especially when idiotic things come out of his mouth like “well, you could weigh that too” and “here, let me pull up the recommended weight charts online” where he proceeded to tell me that at 5’7″, 158 pounds is at the very upper end of “normal” and that over 158 is considered overweight.

Yeah, I know.

Where you lose me is the following:

1.  I have no desire to lose 95 more pounds.

2.  When you are 5’7″ and have NEVER had a weight problem the calories in you need to maintain 135 pounds is A LOT MORE THAN someone who used to weigh 327 pounds at their heaviest who now weighs 135 pounds.  Whatever the amount of calories I would get to eat in a day to maintain 135 pounds is simply not maintainable to me.  Because if I only get to eat 1000 calories per day, to his ex’s 1600 calories per day….that 600 calories is a HUGE DIFFERENCE.  But if at 175 pounds I can eat 1800 a day to maintain, well, that’s reasonable.  Again, I don’t know the exact calorie counts….but I’ve read several times in several places that once you’ve basically messed your body up (with extra fat deposits, extra skin, goofed up metabolism) you do not get to eat the same amount of calories for the same height/weight as someone who has never had a weight problem.

3.  I’m already off of my blood pressure medicine (did I report that to all of you?  I’m so inconsistent in my writing this time…..), so I’m already a lot healthier.  My bloodwork is all within the correct ranges for cholesterol, triglycerides, etc……and my doctor says that if I got to 175 that would really be all I would need to lose.

So I told my boyfriend that to be safe he shouldn’t mention his ex-wife within 5 minutes of mentioning anything about my weight.

In all fairness, he has told me several times how proud he is of me, that I’m doing a great job, that he wouldn’t be able to do it, etc…….so I just chalk this up to human error.

🙂

But she’s still a bitch.  Just sayin’.
