For the last few weeks I’ve been monitoring my blood pressure, and it’s gone from 130/85 average, to 120/80 average, to 115/75. It’s hovered around 115/75 and yesterday afternoon/this morning the bottom dropped out. My IP coach told me it might happen, as she’s seen several clients almost suddenly need to go off of their blood pressure meds.
I’ve been on a very low dosage of a bp med since I was 23. Today, I’m happy to report I’m no longer on the bp med. Yesterday afternoon after returning home from the Botanic Garden I was taking my mom’s scooter out of the trunk of the car and got woozy. This morning I checked my bp and it was 93/55. Seriously. So after checking both arms, and checking my mom for quality control purposes, we decided I should take the day off of work and get this resolved.
Because I had just seen my doctor at the beginning of July and she knew I was doing so well, and knew this day would be coming, we decided for me to just go off of the bp med starting now.
This evening I was back to 111/70 and feeling much better (the pill from last night has almost worked it way out).
So onward I go, less any blood pressure medication. Life is certainly changing!
I just realized it is day 60 on Ideal Protein, and tomorrow makes 2 months. As of Friday I have lost 41.5 pounds since May 30th, 2012. I say over and over again to anyone who will listen that this program is no short of a miracle for me.
When people hear that I can’t do fruit, dairy, or carbs on this diet they pronounce “well, I would never be able to do it.” This coming most from people who are obese. Obviously whatever they are doing isn’t working, but we all have our journey. It took me 38 years to figure this out, and some people never figure it out….so I consider myself to be lucky. Very lucky indeed.
Today I went for a lovely walk at the Chicago Botanic Garden with my mom and good friend Kim. We were there from 10am to 12:15. The last hour or so was quite hot. But it felt very good to walk. So yay!
I’ve been missing carbs something fierce. Like an addict. This Wednesday will complete my 8th week, and begin my 9th.
As of this morning I’ve lost 39.7. In about 16 pounds I will hit a milestone…a weight I haven’t been at since my early 20’s.
That keeps me on the straight and narrow.
Browsing the tube tonight and I see that the network called G4 is replaying Lost, and they are on part 2 of the pilot. Seeing my old friends is like tearing my heart out from my chest. That was the best show I’ve ever seen in my lifetime. It was the best show my mom has ever seen in her lifetime. I hate how it ended. They did not answer even 25% of the questions they created. I’ve waited to buy the 6th and final season on Blu-ray for 2 reasons…..1) hoping the price will go down and 2) it’s still just too damn painful.
The only show that will come close to my feeling such a loss is General Hospital, when it finally gets cancelled.
It’s sad to see my old friends, yet I have not yet been able to look away. Sigh.
So very sorry that I haven’t been verbose as of late. I’ll put some random things on here.
1. Shark Week starts August 12th. I love me some Shark Week.
2. My 20th high school reunion is on Saturday, 7/21. Where did the time go?
3. I’m also looking forward to the Olympics. Don’t know how anyone can top China on 8/8/2008, but I’m sure London will be fun.
4. As of this morning I’ve lost 35.9 pounds. Cray-cray.
5. We are looking at 2 more days of 95+ weather, and I hate that. 87 and lower is ideal for me.
6. I have my outfit all chosen for my reunion. I’m even going to wear heels (who am I?).

Finally yesterday afternoon we got a much needed break from the 100 degree weather. I was watering my plants 2x a day, which is a lot considering I have partial sun/partial shade plants because I have northern exposure from my porch.
Tonight I took a break from cooking and took mom out to dinner. I have found Outback to be a “safe” place for me to eat, with several things on the menu that fit my plan. I could probably find something to eat everywhere, but I’m not that brave yet.
31.7 pounds lost as of this morning, Day 39. I am still amazed at this diet, and amazed at how good I feel on it, and how easy it has been.
Tonight mom and I went for a walk around the neighborhood for an hour…..well, me walking. Mom uses her scooter because she is on oxygen. And of course, I was pushing the my cat Al in the stroller. I love to walk by other walkers who smile as they walk by, and then REALLY smile when they realize it’s a cat in a stroller. I just love that.
28.1 pounds lost as of this morning, 7/1/2012. This program has been a Godsend for me. It continues to amaze me how great I feel at only 750-950 calories per day.
Today I woke up at 7 without my alarm and was back from the grocery store and gas station by 10am. By noon I had eaten lunch, and prepped all of my vegetables for the week.
Because it was so darn hot outside I decided to go ahead and relax and take a nap. When I got up I rearranged the furniture in my bedroom and then cooked dinner.
WHO AM I??????? I never had this kind of energy on other diets (even when I weighed what I weigh now). Eating vegetables and lean proteins rocks!!!!!
This week looks to be miserably hot still. I hope everyone is careful and drinks plenty of water. 🙂
