So I guess today was day 12 on the lifestyle change.  I’ve stopped counting, because really, if it’s a lifestyle change you don’t keep track of the days.  Because it’s just how it is now.  Believe me, there are other tracking mechanisms….my weekly coaching appointment, and my daily SparkPeople tracking.  So it’s not like I won’t know how much I’ve lost in how much amount of time.  There’s just not much point in counting each day.

This past week I’ve faced many temptations, but they actually were only temptations in my brain.  Interestingly enough, all of the temptations were at work.  One baby shower, 2 lunches where pizza was served, and then a free baseball game IN THE BOX WITH FREE FOOD.  None of it on my plan.

One thing I’ve noticed is that most people get their “fruits and veggies” part of the food pyramid (or whatever on earth it is now) by eating fruit.  Fruit is not on my plan at all.  It has sugar in it, therefore it’s completely verboten.  Not forever, but for now while I’m in Phase 1 of this plan, and I’m on Phase 1 until I’m at 90% of what I want to lose.  At the baby shower someone was great enough to bring a fruit plate, thinking that was a good healthy option.  And it is!  However, I’ve come to realize that if you really want to be inclusive to ALL types of eaters with all types of restrictions (for whatever reasons), you have to have to have to include a vegetable tray.

Yesterday my dad came up to my house to pick me up prior to going to the game.  I cooked us lunch prior to going so that I wouldn’t be tempted (as much) to eat there.  Plus, my dad has Type 2 diabetes and should really eat better than he does.  He loved my lunch.  I’m getting really good at grilling veggies on the grill.  The picture with this blog entry is from tonight’s meal, but a lot of meals I’m home for look a lot like the picture.  I like to have a little of this and a little of that.  I cut everything up, and then put it in a nice mixing bowl.  I spray the veggies with Pam Olive Oil spray, salt, and pepper.  Then grill.  Easy.

Yesterday morning I stepped on the scale and I had lost 12 pounds exactly since May 30th.  I’m going to try to refrain getting on the scale until Wednesday morning, which will be the 2 week mark.

OK, so this is about it for now.  Even my cat is on a diet.  🙂

  1. Haha my husband and I joke about us being on IP (at night only for him, he eats whatever during the day and whatever I make at night), because our dogs are now also on a diet, no table scraps because I don’t make enough for seconds, helps with portion control. Congrats on the loss so far!!
